Private Label Plush Toys

The toy on your customer’s shelf exists nowhere else in the world.
KINWIN has been manufacturing private label plush toys for brands across toy retail, DTC e-commerce, Amazon, IP licensing, gifting, and promotional markets for 17+ years. With 30+ senior pattern makers, 15 production lines, and certifications including CE, ASTM F963, EN71, and Disney FAMA — we provide the full manufacturing infrastructure that serious private label brands require.

Who Private Label Plush Toys Are Right For
Who Private Label Plush Toys Are Right For
Private label is the right choice when your brand requires a plush toy that no competitor can replicate — and when you are ready to invest in original product development.
- DTC brands building a character-based product universe — original characters drive LTV and repeat purchase
- Amazon sellers seeking sustainable differentiation — a private label character cannot be copied and undercut by competitors the way a generic product can
- Toy brands and retailers building proprietary product lines — retailer exclusives and own-brand toys require original manufacturing
- IP and licensing brands producing licensed character merchandise — accuracy to the IP character bible requires OEM manufacturing
- Gift and promotional brands building brand mascot programs — original branded mascots create stronger emotional connection than generic branded plush
- Brands at any stage from 500-piece test drops to 50,000+ unit programs

Private Label Plush Toy Development Process
Private Label Plush Toy Development Process
KINWIN’s private label development process is structured, transparent, and designed to minimize revision cycles and get your product to market on schedule.
Step 1 · Brief, NDA & Design Submission
You share your character concept, brand brief, reference artwork, size requirements, material preferences, and functional needs. NDA is signed before any design materials are exchanged. KINWIN’s design support team reviews all inputs and prepares a project alignment document.
Step 2 · Design Alignment & Tech Pack Preparation
KINWIN prepares a design alignment document confirming how every element of your character will be translated into the physical plush toy — proportions, colors, materials, functional modules, branding placement. You review and sign off before sampling begins. The tech pack is developed from the aligned design.
Step 3 · Material Sourcing & Color Confirmation
Fabric swatches, color samples, filling materials, and functional components are sourced and confirmed. Physical color swatches are submitted for your Pantone reference approval. All materials carry OEKO-TEX certification documentation.
Step 4 · Prototype Sampling — 7 Working Days
First physical prototype produced within 7 working days. Sample is evaluated for character accuracy (95%+ similarity target), fabric hand-feel, filling density, functional module performance, and branding application. HD photography and a construction report accompany every sample. Revisions at no additional charge until approved.
Step 5 · Safety Testing & Compliance Documentation
Pre-production samples are submitted to accredited third-party laboratories (SGS, Intertek, Bureau Veritas) for market-specific safety testing. KINWIN coordinates all testing and provides complete compliance documentation: CE certificate, EN71 test reports, ASTM F963, CPSC CPC, OEKO-TEX certificates, and REACH compliance reports.
Step 6 · Mass Production
Full production across KINWIN’s 15 production lines. Golden sample maintained as production benchmark throughout. Average lead time 25–35 days from sample approval. 100% in-process quality inspection on every unit — character accuracy, filling density, embroidery alignment, functional module performance, and branding placement all verified against the golden sample.
Step 7 · QC, Packaging & Shipment
Final QC inspection, packaging per your specifications, and global shipment via sea, air, or express courier. Full compliance documentation included with shipment. FBA-direct, DDP door-to-door, and 3PL warehouse delivery all supported.

Frequently Asked Questions — Private Label Plush Toys
Frequently Asked Questions — Private Label Plush Toys
Q1. What is the difference between private label and ODM plush toys?
Private label (OEM) means KINWIN manufactures a plush toy that is designed entirely from your original character concept — 100% of the design originates with your brand. The character, pattern, and finished product are your exclusive intellectual property. ODM means choosing from KINWIN’s library of pre-existing designs and customizing the branding, colors, and minor details. Private label gives you complete uniqueness and IP ownership; ODM gives you speed and lower development cost with less exclusivity. For brands building a long-term character-based business, private label is the correct foundation.
Q2. I only have a rough sketch — can KINWIN develop it into a finished private label product?
Yes. KINWIN’s design support team works from any starting point — hand-drawn sketches, digital illustrations, written character descriptions, reference photos, or mood boards. We develop a refined multi-view reference set, prepare the tech pack, source and confirm materials, and produce the first physical prototype within 7 working days of design sign-off. Most brands that come to us without a finished design file leave with a production-ready product. The key is having a clear vision of your character’s personality and aesthetic — we handle the technical translation.
Q3. How do I protect my character design and IP during the manufacturing process?
KINWIN supports full NDA signing before any design materials are shared. Our internal IP protection protocols include: controlled access to design files (only authorized production personnel), strict separation between different clients’ IP projects, no sharing of client designs with third parties under any circumstances, and destruction or return of all design files and patterns at project completion upon request. For IP licensing projects, we also support multi-party NDA structures covering the IP holder, licensee, and manufacturer. KINWIN has passed Disney FAMA factory audit — which includes IP protection as a core assessment criterion.
Q4. What safety certifications do private label plush toys need?
The required certifications depend on your target markets: CE certification + EN71 Parts 1-3 for EU sales; ASTM F963 + CPSC Children’s Product Certificate (CPC) for US sales; UKCA + EN71 for UK sales; AS/NZS 8124 for Australia. For electronic plush toys (sound, LED, AI modules), IEC 62115 electronic toy safety testing is additionally required. KINWIN coordinates all safety testing through accredited laboratories (SGS, Intertek, Bureau Veritas) and provides the complete compliance documentation package formatted for Amazon Seller Central, retail buyer submission, and customs clearance.
Q5. How long does the full private label development process take from brief to first shipment?
For a standard private label plush toy: design alignment 3-5 days, material confirmation 3-5 days, sampling 7 working days, sample review and revision 5-14 days (depending on revision rounds), safety testing 10-14 days (can run parallel with production preparation), mass production 25-35 days, packaging and QC 3-5 days, sea freight 20-35 days. Total from brief to first delivery: 12-18 weeks for most first-time projects. For DTC brands with tight launch windows, we recommend beginning the private label development process at least 4 months before your target launch date. Reorders without design changes are significantly faster: 6-8 weeks from order to delivery.
